Common questions

Where should a complete beginner start with gold trading?

Start by learning the instrument before the platform. Understand that gold is quoted as XAU/USD, that one standard lot is 100 oz, and that one pip is 0.01. Then learn how margin and leverage work, because those decide whether a position survives normal price noise. Our learn section builds in that order rather than jumping to entries.

Do I need a lot of money to start trading gold in Kenya?

The amount you need depends on the lot size you trade, the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving Kenya, and the margin that cap requires. At the applicable cap, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin. That figure is margin, not the amount you can afford to lose, so fund only what you can genuinely spare.

Why is gold considered riskier than it looks for beginners?

Gold moves quickly in dollar terms because each pip is small but the contract is large. A 100-pip move on a 1.00-lot position is $100, so a modest percentage change can produce a large swing in account equity. Leverage magnifies both directions. Beginners often underestimate this and size positions too large for their balance.

How do I work out the right position size for my account?

Position size depends on the distance to your stop, the pip value for your lot size, and the share of your balance you are willing to risk on one trade. Decide the risk amount first, then divide it by the pip distance times pip value. Our position size calculator does that arithmetic so you can see the result before you place an order.

Is M-Pesa the normal way to fund a trading account in Kenya?

M-Pesa is the familiar funding route for Kenyan traders, and it is the local method we reference. Whether it is available for a particular account depends on the broker and the entity serving this country, so confirm the deposit options inside the account area before you commit funds. We cannot confirm the full list of methods here.
